Object Management Group To Launch DDS Foundation
Builds a Data-Distribution Service community of interest

NEEDHAM, MA — March 13, 2019 — The Object Management Group® (OMG®), an international, open membership, not-for-profit technology standards consortium, today announced the formation of the DDS Foundation. The goal of the Foundation is to bring together a community of technology companies, end users, developers and IIoT industry influencers to advance the mission of the OMG Data-Distribution Service™ (DDS™) standard.

The work of the Foundation will center on user case studies, education initiatives, conformance/interoperability testing, and industry data repository models that promote awareness of the standard’s use in edge autonomy, high performance, highly-scalable Industrial Internet of Things (IoT) and large-scale Consumer IoT applications.

The official launch of the Foundation will take place on March 20 during the OMG Technical Committee meeting in Reston, VA. The Foundation’s newly elected leaders will moderate its inaugural event, DDS in the Real World, which will focus on the use of DDS in IIoT, robotics and defense. Speakers include:

  • Using DDS for Dynamic Systems
    Lance Gwennap, Chief Engineer, Raytheon
  • DDS Makes Robots Come Alive
Joe Speed, CTO, ADLINK IoT Solutions & Technology
  • Designing Flexible, Secure, and Efficient IoT Applications with DDS
Steve Totten, Partner, Object Computing, Inc. (OCI)

An evening reception will follow the event so that attendees can continue the conversation and discuss next steps with the speakers, Foundation executives and DDS vendors at the OMG Networking Reception. Registration for the event is complimentary and required.
