The Internet of Things (IoT) and the resulting Big Data derived from these "things" is expected to produce measurable business outcomes in the trillions of dollars. IoT is already proving itself to produce new revenue growth, operational efficiency, and increased customer satisfaction.

Beyond the numbers, IoT changes how "things" work. IoT architecture depends upon solid systems engineering principles to handle its unique scale, safety, reliability, security and privacy requirements. Security remains a roadblock to its widespread adoption.

The Cybersecurity & IoT special event on March 19 will contain two parts:

PART 1: A discussion of the various perspectives on IoT security: Architectural frameworks, standards requirements, interoperability, systems assurance, cybersecurity, and data governance.

PART 2: A one-hour poster session for OMG® working groups to present information on standards impacting IoT and security followed by an expert panel discussing the needs, requirements, and priorities for securing IoT. The role of standards in securing IoT will be discussed.

Presentation Topics Include

  • Cybersecurity and cyberwar: what everyone needs to know
  • Vulnerabilities in consumer software patches
  • Cybersecurity threats in the retail domain
  • Winning the cyber war with structured software assurance
  • How to communicate in an evolving cyber threat environment
  • How to efficiently maintain cyber protection with constantly evolving threats
